What should be in your beach bag | Summer essentials for a beach day

Summer is here, and you know what that means: time to put away those bulky purses and swap them out for the beloved beach bag.

Packing a beach bag is somewhat of a fine art.

If your approach is too minimalist, you’ll end up missing out on some key essentials.

Strike a perfect balance by keeping these must-have items stocked and ready to go in your beach bag.

Healthy snacks

With all the surf-side temptations (i.e. ice cream, hot dogs), it’s a little too easy to beach your diet. Stash some trail mix or other protein-packed snacks into your tote to keep hunger at bay.

Water bottle

Your body needs a lot of water to avoid dehydration at the beach (do you know you should be drinking eight 8-ounce glasses of fluids a day?!). Pack a water bottle for easy refilling.

 Sunscreen

If you’re active at the beach, wear a sunscreen which sweat and water- resistant, and will give you that sun-kissed look without the worry of a sunburn.

Sunglasses

Preferably with UV protection. A fabulous pair of diva shades is essential to any summer look!  It’s important to invest in a pair of sunglasses that block out 100% of UVA/UVB/UVC rays and harmful blue light.

Lip balm

Chapped, sunburned lips never feel good. So use it and keep your lips hydrated.

Leave-in conditioner

A day at the beach is like a day at the spa … the sand exfoliates your feet and the salt water promotes skin elasticity. But sometimes the sunshine and salty water combo can do a number on your hair. Try a leave-in conditioner at the end of the day.

Floppy sun hat

No day at the beach is complete without a floppy oversized hat!  Not only does it give you one more layer of defense against the sun’s harmful rays, but it looks adorable too.

Good book to read

We all have our favorite genres for summer reads—romantic dramas, mysteries, historical fiction. Pick a genre that you love, kick up those heels and start reading.

Toss a resistance band, yoga mat or soccer ball into your tote to burn some calories while soaking up the sun.

Happy summers you all!
